What will make life as a Den Leader Easier

Complete your required training ASAP, don't put it off!

Talk with other leaders about how they run their den, what works, what doesn't.

Set up regular Den meetings, be consistant.

Find an assistant to help you with your Den meetings, someone dependable and out going.

Use the internet, there's an unlimited amount of information out there, don't be too proud to borrow ideas.

Attend Committee meetings, this is where all of the decisions are made and where to get information about upcoming events in the pack.

Go to the Round Table meetings, get involved.

Activities to get your Den involved

-Make a Den Flag. This will become the den's rally point on outings. It will help them show

pride in their den and will serve as a place to put recognition awards at meetings and outings.
-Have a critter or logo
-Know the meaning of the critter or logo.(why'd you choose to be The Squirrels)
-Know the meaning of the colors chosen.(or you just liked them) Click Here for Color & Critter meanings
-Develop a Den Cheer. There's a page in the handbook for the boys to write it down.
-Have a Den Song, something the boys can be at the ready to sing.
-Have name plates for outside the tents. First name with a theme of their choosing (gnomes, bears
ect.)
-Each Den Leader should have a novelty item on display.(weather rock, electric bush, lashing, ect)
-Make (or buy) brag vests. There is ample need for them. The boys get lots of patches.
-Den Leaders should keep an up to date calendar in a binder with them so they can answer
questions their dens may have about dates. It will also serve as a place to put papers
you will receive.
-Make a Den Totem. This is a wall hanging of your critter or logo. This will be used at Pack
meetings, Blue and Gold, your den meeting, ect. Lets people know your den's represented.
(24 Max.)
-Bring items your den has worked on to Pack meetings and Blue and Gold. There will be a brag
table for the boys to show off their wares. (gives other leaders project ideas)
-Always have flag awards that can be given to the boys for their efforts. (have a generic award)

Pack Resources

I am trying to put together a list of items, hand-me-downs, that you as new Tiger leaders can use to take some of the stress out of trying to run den meetings. I'll put the item, what it's for and who to contact to get it. If you plan ahead, you can probably get it from them when you come to the Committee meeting. You can find their number on the Leaders page.
